I accepted Christ when I was 12 years old. One Friday night after a revival meeting, our family and the pastor’s family got together at our house
for snacks. Brother Oscar Walker talked to me and my sister and showed us how
to be saved. We both accepted Christ right there in our family room.
I got out of church for a while when I got older, but I found
out, you can’t be happy when you’re not in church and doing God’s will.
I rededicated my life and started singing in the choir, but there was no way that I would ever sing a solo!
Joe wanted me to sing with him, but I just couldn’t/wouldn’t. Some time in 1999 I really wanted to sing. I
took Speech 101 from Dr. Gaynelle Stewart at Immanuel Bible College. She
made me get up and talk. Then I asked
our choir director at the time, Tony Harman, if I could have the solo part of “On Time God”, one of the new choir
songs we were learning; he said I surely could. Then I wondered if I’d
made a big mistake. I was so nervous.
When I would sing a solo, my voice would quiver and my hands
would get so clammy, I thought I’d be electrocuted by the microphone. I
kept on singing. With God all things are
possible. I still get nervous, but I am more confident now. When we were filming for the Don Frost Music City Gospel Showcase, Joe asked me if I ever thought I’d
be singing on TV. I told him I never thought I’d be singing in front of
I thank God for the opportunity to be able to sing for him. I pray that God will bless us first so we can be a blessing to others?
